12 Principles of Animation and Suggested Reading

Thought this post was pretty thorough in explaining the 12 Principles of Animation....
Even though there are actually more than 12.

Also some STRONGLY suggested reading if you can borrow it, buy it, or what have you... Just make sure you at least read them.

Illusion of Life: By Ollie Johnson & Frank Thomas

The Animator's Survival Kit: by Richard Williams

Character Animation Crash Course: By Eric Goldburg

  1. I have all of these if someone needs to borrow them. I think the Eric Goldberg book is the easiest to dive into as a beginner, and it is the quickest read. I had a lot of trouble getting the gist of the Richard Williams book until I was already animating because it just has so much info it's kind of overwhelming, but now refer to it all the time.

  2. Ditto on that. If anyone needs to borrow any of them, I have all three as well and can bring them on Wednesday.

Also agree that character animation crash course is the most friendly but Animation Survival Kit has a pretty good Ball-bounce.
